Another Way

Another way.
Picture

Another way is a cutout animated shortfilm we did for CMS Vatavaran(2008). After a long gap we had a chance to create a shortfilm and that too in a short span of time. So we chose to build the film in cutout style. The theme was environment and our idea was to keep it simple and symbolic.
We were a team of four(Me, Nilabh, Vinod & Tanmay). Nilabh handled concept designs, Animation & editing. Tanmay handled storyboards, story pitch & animation, Vinod handled painting the cutouts & look development. I handled the technical setup. From idea to to final result we completed the film in two days. We completed the animation in one night(6 hours) and saw the premiere at 6:00 am.
This film is very special for me, as it had challenged our guts and thats why we could do it in such short time.

Have a nice day.

This is a clay animated short film we did for FICCI animated film festival(2006). We were just three to four months into our course when we did this film. Clay was the medium we handled before in a training workshop and that is why we chose this medium for our short film.
We were divided in different departments based on our interests and skills. Every body was enthusiastic about this film. I handled production co ordination, asset management and a huge work of frame editing. We all followed the tight schedule and completed the film in forty days flat.
While working on editing the frames I explored photoshop and became efficient with it. I also helped in set building. We tested our knowledge that we had learned about short film making through this short film.
I was excited thoroughly when I saw the premiere of Have a nice day for the first time. This film has been really helpful in my personal learning in many ways. While doing asset management I learned to control my temper.

Skateboard of Spike.

The concept was created by Nilabh, the modeling and rigging of spike was done by Tanmay P and texturing was done by Vinod A. I modeled the the poly hair and the sketeboard.

This Skateboard belongs to spike a cartoon character form project IDR. The creation was a few hours job, but it reminds me that i had followed the pipeline from reference to 3d model strictly.

Grandpa Bunny

I had created this cartoon character in 2008. Old Bunny aka Grandpa bunny was my first 3d cartoon character . This was also a good learning experience from technical point of view. This Character was later incorporated to be displayed in project IDR-International Demo reel.
Project IDR consists of my major work and i am gonna post it soon.

Some new sketches

As a 3d character artist your visualization, drawing skills, anatomy understanding and presentation needs to be really good. It only comes by practice, observation and hard work.
I love bikes, and i have been designing them since i was 13. back then I saw Cyclotron a combat motorbike of Swat kats and I was inspired. So much so that My each notebook had bike designs drawn in them. and this inspiration still continues. its a shame though that i haven't been able to model a complete bike in 3d.

SWO-GU-18909 is a si-fi weapon used by a robot tribes, who use it like a sword in close combat and as a gun for long ranges. it is a pulse gun with a grenade launcher attachment.

I like sketching. i believe its a quick way to give shape to our ideas. Its also a good way to spend a break. But as a Professional I do sketching of the concept that i am going to model. In my further posts i am going to describe my process of 3d modeling.
For Now Here are some new sketches.

The Good Old Days.

Often on sundays or in our free time, Nilabh and tany played guitar. Not to mention They are very good at playing guitar. The thing that inspires me is that they are self learnt.and the fact about me is that i suck at playing music and singing too. So i just used to enjoy it. I cant explain how the music moved me into a relax zone. I always got connected with nature or memories. The flow of getting into the zone was so beautiful that one could hardly resist.
i was so inspired that i decided to learn drums and took initial lessons. Man..its really difficult. it requires a lot of multitasking which stretched my brain and i lost the rythm. For now i stopped but i ll rearn it.
Its funny, the moment you are enjoying today becomes a memory of tomorrow. If you have truly enjoyed it you' ll remember it for a life long and miss those moments, just as i am missing the good old days.

Main menu of Mast Raja Game.

Back in 2007 when i was a student(which I still Am) We were developing a concept of 2d cartoon series named 'Mast Raja'. Basically the story revolves arround a bunch of Teens, resident in Mast Raja, a society, and the adventures they face over there. i wont go into much details.
At the same an alternate idea of an online game of same concept was also tossed. And my assignment was to create the main menu of the game- 'Mast Raja-The Haunted House.' So here it is.
The game idea- Well, parents are out, and as usual our guise are upto something. Bored by usual stuff, they decide to do plan chit. As they start the game goes out of hand and ghosts enter our world and haunt the house. The teens are scared not because of the ghosts but because of the consequence they will faces if their parents discover this. So the player has to catch a ghost and put him back to, from where he came. its an online, score a lot flash based game.

Quest Of Fate (QoF)- The project that Shaped me into a gamer and game artist. Back in 2007 when we were students, we undertook this project with a purpose of displaying game content at Game Storm event and also learned about game art. I was the team leader and i learned an important lesson of my life i.e. leadership. My team members were Nilabh, Ujwala, Tanmay D, Vinod, Pryianka and Tanmay p. The initial story was written by me and the final story of the game was written by Nilabh. The concept art of backgrounds and characters were done by Nilabh, Ujwala, Pryianka and Me. The modeling was done by Me, Tanmay P. Texturing was done by Vinod. The asset were modeled by tanmay D and Pryianka. We all learned a lot about handeling a project.

Here is the art work of Qof.
